A tribute for the 2nd best of the classes.

There is a reason why the not so good quality Bon Jovi with Rihanna version of Livin' on a prayer got picked: The stare. Thats just awesome. Niv's stare at the priests is an inside joke, for several reasons.  And Rihanna does have some features to match an ingame character too. This coincidence is just of of too many to let be overlooked.

The Zylene path was a very nice phase in game, long time ago. And sadly too short. She ceised playing far too early, before we could really have serious fun. But the duo runs to Necropolis of Mirrors were really fun. Serious gaming and careful planning of pulls. True fun.

This also made a very nice spot to present some features of Aslan and Dragonfang into the story. With most of the life being lived on the level 50+ content, the lower level areas were completed quite fast, nowadays even more faster.

The 2nd song Robbie Williams Angels felt kinda must for a Priest chapter. Some skill animations include angel's wings etc. And for Niv, a Priest is an true Angel.

The 3rd song may be kinda surprise, but consider it again after several more chapters and more chapter regarding the guild.  The chapter 16 is actually more about guild, and the mutual devotion attitude of the guild, than Priests.

btw, these 3 chapters are really intented to be read from 14-16, in kinda reversed timeline. Builds up the thing better, i think.

Finally, with these 3 chapters I originally learned how I can present Niv's features and also his values through what and how he does things instead of just blurting it out.

These 3 chapters were originally real fun to write and they gave a lot of motivation and plan for content for the next 20ish chapters.

We're finally gaining some speed and momentum with the real story after some foreplay.

This is a real fun chapter and it's the cornerstone that actually made the whole story to grow into 30+ chapters.

Some day later I will write a commentary about the chapter and all the cryptic expressions included.

Explained ch 1 It's My Life

Song: Bon Jovi - It's My Life Lyrics: Lyrics My name is Nivatix. I am the son of the great Transcend. A professional Die a lot with a perfect accent and great taste of humour. Dad, not me. He has to love humour, since he enjoys lying on the floor, face down, with me. Only thing we can do at those occasions is to make fun of each other. My dad is a son of some unknown jester. That's why he looks like one, with a fancy hat with multiple tentacles and jingle bells. Luckily I don't look like him at all. Except that we're both handsome, he when he has clothes on, and me when I don't. That's why I never use clothes.  I don't know who my mom is, and neither does the dad. We have no suspects and no-one has ever come to claim me. I have this ex-stepmom Haze, whom I never met and the relationship with dad lasted only few weeks. He was not too feminine, I guess that's why Haze left dad. Dad sometimes cries over him. So far my longest lasted stepmom has been the "the enourmous hair" Naylodas. I do not know about her features, since her beard and hair cover her up. I don't even know if she wears clothes at all. She does not need to. She always drains my energy and often puts me to sleep. In return, I get to hit her occasionally with my friends and touch her treasures. Recently my dad found a great stepmom in Natiomea, but that thing did not last even until the honeymorning. Poor both. Or not 'poor', actually, I've heard theyre both rich like uncle Scrooge. Not my uncle, sadly, but Donald Duck's uncle. Maybe I should hope I would inherit them both some day? Anyway my ex-stepmom must like him alot, since she constantly saves his life. I guess she must like me too, since she saves my life also practically every other second. Could she be my real mother? I have one suspected stepsister, Darramba. I suspect that she is my stepsis since she shares the great looks, with red hair and love for sharp weapons and suicidial, reckless behaviour. Dad does not remember her mom either, nor her history. I warmly welcome her into the family though. She has been married to my ex-stepmom. This all is not very confusing. I have a great profession: collecting debt. My dad and ex-stepmom are even better with this, they have such a nice equipment it makes me drool so much people think i wet my panties. Which never happened, I swear!

This ain't a song for the broken-hearted ! This 1st line of the Niv's theme song is very essential. It has turned out to a life full of romance. With surprises I won't spoil you with yet. Hold on to your hats. here we go. Buckle up babe, it's a bumby ride! This theme song is 100% Niv. That's why it got it's place. Originally I had another song in mind, but this one really did demand this position and later has proved to be right. Nivatix is a person who says what he thinks, sometimes without thinking too much about the consequences. He will grab an opportunity when he sees one, guided very strongly by his values and primary principles. He fears no-one, any pixelfilled monster in his universe is a challenge. Dieing is just part of the process required to get to the treasures. In Runes of Magic, when you die, you gain debt in experience and talents points. If you have debt, for every experience or talents points you gain, some will be "wasted" to pay the debt, not increasing your gained experience. Niv and Trans both are Rogue/Warrior characters. Their special ability is to increase their attack power with the cost of defence. Due this, their defence is very low, resulting usually in death if monster glances at them. What happens a lot. Dieing also has another aspect, bringing him closer to what he really desires. I will not explain this further (yet), let it remain a mystery since it is one of the main drivers of his whole life. Luck ain't even lucky Got to make your own breaks As a Rogue, Niv has one of the best possible boost combination to luck in game. I mean skill, rune, friend, pet, potion, another potion. He can make monster drop so much trash (including himself! ) he cannot carry it all. And he has a lot of luck in game. But, he's learned that even luck does not happen itself. He gains nothing just by sitting in the tub. He has to create his own luck, ensuring himself he receives the outcome he desires. This 1st chapter is an opening. I will not explain all the characters, you need to learn them through the story. Nor will I explain their drivers or actions, every reader must figure those by themselves, that's one key part of this whole story. By thinking "why is it described so?" or "why did that character do so?" you enable the whole story to live up in your mind and will hopefully get much more fun out of it. Remember, sometimes also it's as important what is not said or written than what is out there in the open. A remark regarding Haze. Transcend and Haze got married, they just had this crazy idea after some time of mutual joking with each other. Haze was the leader of Valhalla, our allied guild. Both characters are male. For the couple weeks they were married, they argued who was the "feminine" one in their relationship. Since Trans is Niv's dad, Niv has always considered that Haze was a stepmother. They broke up since Haze's player quit playing the game. Trans' Naylodas relationship is a hate-love kind of affection. Naylodas is huge tree in the Raksha Temple. The relationship system in RoM is buggy. At last was at those days. Trans and Nati got married once Haze had quit. But the relationship was cancelled when one of them logged out. They tried it again, but it failed to endure every time. Earlier Nati had been married to Darramba, who's player had ceised playing after that. Later when Darramba had come back, we figured she's Niv's lost sister. We (meaning the players behind the characters) seem to consider the relationships in the game as many-to-many relationships for the most part. Some relationships are conventional, some are quite controversial. This whole story was born from about years discussion and play within the guild. We had a "soap opera" discussion thread to document the mess. there was even a very complex relationship map. It was really a mess. This story is based on those relationship facts. We will get to explore the relationships structure in RoM in some later chapter. I'm not explaining all the little 'hooks' laid down on this chapter. You will realise those later. One more thing: Niv dances to the rhytm of the drums. Not just the bass drum, mainly the sticks.
